Synopsis
As a major banking organisation, our client has interests and operations within the African continent. These include countries and regions at high risk of corruption, fraud, civil unrest and terrorism, as well as economic uncertainty.
Given the locations of some of its operations, the organisation and its employees are potentially at risk from a variety of criminal activities, particularly bribery and corruption. Employees, during the normal course of their duties, may become exposed to or approached by external individuals with criminal intent. In addition, some high-level employees may be a target for kidnapping. The organisation itself is at risk from the infiltration of individuals that may have fraudulent credentials and pose a significant criminal threat.
Through its considerable base of contacts and local operatives, the corporate security teams at Blackhawk was able to collect and analyse a wealth of local intelligence data that helped our client make informed decisions in regard to business transactions and employee security. These sources included the local police force, INTERPOL, counterterrorism experts and intelligence sources within a particular country’s police force or within which the client has its HQ, also local embassies.
Changes in local economic conditions, political and financial restriction can trigger unwelcome attention from criminal groups, particularly on foreign-owned assets and staff. Events as simple as a local labour strike, demonstrations or local banking restrictions can create significant security risks to both employees and company assets.
Blackhawk’s intelligence and analysis reports provide up to the minute alerts and insights into local events, the drivers behind them and risk mitigation strategies our clients can employ.
